To Obtain a Copy of an Image

Please contact the Archives and specify the ID number of the image and what delivery method you prefer (CD-ROM or paper copy).

If you prefer print, please specify a standard size (i.e. 8" x 10"). Fees for prints are subject to the current price schedule of the Digital Media Services Office, plus $5 for postage and handling.

The cost of an image on a CD-ROM is $10 per image, plus $5 for postage and handling. This includes the cost of the CD-ROM.

Requests for CD-ROMs can normally be handled within a day or two once payment has been received. Prints may take longer, as they are subject to the work load of the Digital Media Services Office.

There are additional fees for commercial use (see below) and they are in additon to the fees listed above.

Fee Schedule for Commercial Use of Images from The NYU School of Medicine Archives

All units of New York University , non-profit organizations (with the exception of university presses) and governmental organizations will not be subject to these charges.

1. Books: cover: $100; inside photograph: $50 first image, $30 each for 2-10 images, $20 each for 11+ images.
   
   
2. Magazines/newspapers: cover: $200; $100 for first inside image, $50 each for 2-10 images, $25 each for 11+ images.
   
   
3. University presses: cover: $75; $25 for first inside image, $10 for 2+ images.
4. Use of images in film, videos or cable programs:
• Studios/Majors: $200 for the first image; 2-10 images, $100 each; 11+ $50 each
• Smaller commercial production companies: $75 for the first image; 2-10, $35 each; 11+ $25 each
• Independent, nonprofit documentary filmakers (applies to video makers as well):

• Local Broadcast/Cable
• General commercial use: $50 for first image, 2-10 images, $20 each; 11+ $15 each
• Public affairs programs - no charge
• Public television/non-profit use - no charge
• Public service spots on commercial television - $25 for first image, 2+, $10 each
• National Broadcast/Cable
• General commercial use: $150 for first image; 2-10 images, $50 each; 11+, $35 each
• Public television/non-profit use: $25 for first image; 2+, $10 each
• Public service spots on commerical television: $25 for first image; 2+, $10 each
• Public access/public television stations: no charge
5. Moving Images from the Collection: $250 per image, per minute, per medium. After one (1) minute, time is pro-rated in 15 second intervals at $67.50 per quarter minute. Minimum payment $250.
