HISTORICAL NOTE
Born in Chillicothe , Ohio on April 78, 1875, Dr. John Spetnagel graduated from the University and Bellevue Hospital Medical College in 1901. While in school, he was a member of the Phi Alpha Sigma medical fraternity. He was on the house staff at Bellevue Hospital in 1902-03, and was on the ambulance service there. Dr. Spetnagel served in World War I, and later was in private practice in New York City . He and his wife Marie had two daughters, Louise and Elizabeth. John Spetnagel died on April 8, 1943 .
SCOPE AND CONTENTS OF THE COLLECTION
This is a small collection of documents and items from different periods in Dr. Spetnagel's life - medical student, military doctor and private practitioner.
