The card is labeled “Bellevue Hospital No. 1” and shows a variety of scenes from the hospital, including a chapel, a ward, the exterior of the building, the admissions desk, and the Board Room. The postcard is also labeled “Compliments of Lactopeptine.” Lactopeptine was a manufacturer’s name for a digestion-ferment product containing Pepsin and Pancreatin and sold in the 19th century.

Engraving showing the Bellevue Hospital Wharf as it was in 1795. A hospital boat can be seen discharging sick passengers. The caption beneath the image reads, “Bellevue Wharf, 1795, where the hospital boat landed the sick. Drawn on wood by Charles Parsons and engraved by C.B. Dolge.” This engraving was inspired by a 1795 watercolor painted by Dr. Alexander Anderson while he was the resident physician at Bellevue.

Dr. Van Buren taught at University Medical College as Professor of Diseases of Genito-Urinary Organs and Venereal Diseases (1851-1852) and Professor of Anatomy (1852-1866). He then taught at Bellevue Hospital Medical College as Professor of Surgery from 1868 to 1883.

Signed illustrated portrait of William Holme Van Buren, MD (1819-1883. Dr. Van Buren taught at University Medical College as Professor of Diseases of Genito-Urinary Organs and Venereal Diseases (1851-1852) and Professor of Anatomy (1852-1866). He then taught at Bellevue Hospital Medical College as Professor of Surgery from 1868 to 1883.

Carte de visite portrait of Robert Ogden Doremus, MD (1824-1906). Dr. Doremus received his MD from University Medical College in 1851. He taught at Bellevue Hospital Medical College as Professor of Chemistry, Toxicology, and Medical Jurisprudence from 1861 to 1897.
