His long and accomplished career at New York University School of Medicine began when he was appointed to the medical faculty in 1949. In 1967, Dr. Zitrin became a full professor of psychiatry in 1976. From 1955 to 1968, he was Director of Psychiatry at Bellevue Hospital Center, and from 1962 to 1964, he served as Director of Psychiatry of the New York City Department of Hospitals.
