Bust of Arthur Mullin Wright, MD (1879-1948). Dr. Wright joined the faculty of the New York University College of Medicine’s Department of Surgery in 1908. From 1933 to 1946, he held the role of George David Stewart Professor of Surgery and chairman of the department. He served as Emeritus Professor of Surgery from his retirement in 1946 until his death in 1948.

Image of Sigmund L. Wilens, MD, seated at his desk, on p. 40 of the 1954 NYU Medical Violet yearbook. Dr. Wilens became Professor of Pathology at New York University College of Medicine in 1934. He also held the role of Director of Pathology at Bellevue Hospital from 1949 to 1955.

Photograph of a painted portrait of John Henry Wyckoff, Jr., MD (1881-1937). Dr. Wyckoff received his MD from University and Bellevue Hospital Medical College in 1907. His long career at University and Bellevue Hospital Medical College spanned from 1910 to 1937. From 1932 to 1937 he served as Professor of Medicine and Dean of the Medical School.

Portrait of Marion Baldur Sulzberger, MD (1895-1984), from p. 60 of the 1954 NYU Medical Violet yearbook. Dr. Sulzberger became director of the New York Skin and Cancer Unit in 1947. From 1949 to 1960, he served as Professor of Dermatology and chairman of the Department of Dermatology at New York University Medical School. Dr. Sulzberger was named professor emeritus in 1960.

Dr. Standard received his MD from University and Bellevue Hospital Medical College of New York University in 1924. He was appointed professor of Clinical Surgery at New York University School of Medicine in 1962.

Image of Alfred Vogl, MD, on p. 47 of the 1954 NYU Medical Violet yearbook. Dr. Vogel joined the faculty of the New York University School of Medicine in 1941 as a clinical instructor in medicine, becoming a full professor in 1960.

Image of Marvin Stern, MD, from p. 56 of the 1954 NYU Medical Violet yearbook. Dr. Stern received his MD from New York University College of Medicine in 1939. He became an Assistant in Psychiatry at NYU in 1947, and then taught as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry (1948-1962), Professor of Psychiatry (1962-1979), Menas S. Gregory Professor of Psychiatry (1979-1995), and Professor of Emeritus of Psychiatry (1995-2003).
