Portrait of Paul E. Bechet, MD, inscribed “To Howard Fox, in memory of many friendly years, Paul E. Bechet.” Dr. Bechet taught at University and Bellevue Hospital Medical College as an Instructor in Dermatology and Syphilology (1921-1922) and Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology and Syphilology (1933-1944).

On the back of photograph, the photographer's stamp reads: "Haas Photographer, 695 Fifth Avenue, NYC."

Robert Boggs

Portrait of Robert Boggs, MD (1893-1967). Dr. Boggs taught at the New York University College of Medicine from 1945 to 1955. He also served as Assistant Dean of the College of Medicine and Dean of the Post-Graduate Medical School.

Theodor Billroth

Portrait of Theodor Billroth, MD (1829-1894). Dr. Billroth was a German surgeon, known as the founding father of modern abdominal surgery. He was an early adopter of antiseptic surgical techniques. Billroth also influenced European and American surgical training with his advocacy for a model in which post-graduate medical students took on surgical assistantships to develop their practical skills.

Edward M. Bernecker

Edward M. Bernecker, MD, giving a public address. Dr. Bernecker served as Commissioner of Hospitals of New York for seven years and later held the role of Administrator of Hospital Services with NYU-Bellevue Medical Center.
