Herman M. Biggs (1859-1923) was born in Trumansburg, N.Y. Graduated from Bellevue Hospital Medical College in 1883, and interned at Bellevue Hospital from 1883-1884. Received world-wide recognition for his contributions to public health. Established the New York City Board of Health Laboratory, introduced diphtheria antitoxin and programs in child health.

This portrait appears in 001.1.A4, July 1956, p. 6, with the following caption "Participants in the annual Parents Association buffet supper." Participants include: (L to R) Marcus Kogel, Dean of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine; E. Armstrong, Director of the Medical Center; Willam N. Hubbard, Class of 1944, Associate Dean; Homer Smith; Harry Wexler, Class of 1922, Chairman of the Parents Association; Sidney Rubenfeld, Class of 1930.
