He served as Emeritus Professor of Surgery from his retirement in 1946 until his death in 1948.

Dr. Wiener joined the Department of Forensic Medicine at the New York University School of Medicine in 1938, where he rose to the rank of full professor. In 1938, he also joined the office of the Chief Medical Examiner of the City of New York as a serologist.
