Image of Marvin Stern, MD (1938-2003) from p. 56 of the 1954 NYU Medical Violet yearbook. Dr. Stern received his MD from New York University College of Medicine in 1939. He became an Assistant in Psychiatry at NYU in 1947, and then taught as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry (1948-1962), Professor of Psychiatry (1962-1979), Menas S. Gregory Professor of Psychiatry (1979-1995), and Professor of Emeritus of Psychiatry (1995-2003).

Portrait of Bert Lester Vallee, MD (1919-2010). Dr. Vallee received his MD from the New York University School of Medicine in 1943. He was the Paul C. Cabot Professor of Biological Chemistry at Harvard Medical School.

Image of William Carson Von Glahn, MD (1889-1982) at his desk, from p. 40 of the 1954 NYU Medical Violet yearbook. Dr. Von Glahn joined the faculty of the New York University School of Medicine in 1941 as Professor of Pathology.

Portrait of George Todaro, MD. Dr. Todaro received his MD from the New York University School of Medicine in 1963. He later served as Chief of the Viral Leukemia and Lymphoma Branch at the National Cancer Institute, NIH.

Portrait of Norma C. Styron, MS (1898-1954) from p. 43 of the 1954 NYU Medical Violet yearbook. Styron served as an instructor of microbiology and biomedical researcher at the New York University College of Medicine for 25 years.

Portrait of George David Stewart, MD (1862-1907), reproduced from an illustration in the National Cyclopaedia of American Biography. Dr. Stewart received his MD from Bellevue Hospital Medical College in 1889. He taught at Bellevue Hospital Medical College as Adjunct Lecturer of Anatomy (1895-1896), Adjunct Professor of Anatomy (1896-1897), and Professor of Anatomy (1897-1898). He became Professor of Anatomy at University and Bellevue Hospital Medical College of New York University in 1898 and Professor of Clinical Surgery in 1899.

Portrait of Edward Robert Maloney, MD (1875-1942), in WWI officer’s uniform. The photograph is inscribed “with warmest regards to my chief in Dermatology,” referring to Dr. Howard Fox. Dr. Maloney taught as an associate professor of dermatology at the New York University College of Medicine and later served as professor emeritus.

Portrait of George Barclay Wallace, MD (1874-1948). Dr. Wallace served as Professor of Pharmacology and head of the Department of Pharmacology at University and Bellevue Hospital Medical College of New York University.

Seated portrait of Lewis Thomas, MD (1913-1993). Dr. Thomas served as the Dean of the New York University School of Medicine from 1966 to 1969.
