James A. Shannon

Portrait of James A. Shannon, MD (1904-1994). Dr. Shannon received his MD from University and Bellevue Hospital Medical College in 1929. He taught as an Instructor in Otorhinolaryngology at University and Bellevue Hospital Medical College from 1933 to 1940, and then as Assistant Clinical Professor (1941-1947), Clinical Professor (1948-1950), and Professor (1951-1960) of Otorhinolaryngology at New York University College of Medicine. From 1955 to 1968, he served as Director of the National Institutes of Health.

Irving L. Schwartz

Portrait of Irving Schwartz, MD (1918-2011). Dr. Schwartz received his MD from New York University School of Medicine in 1943. Dr. Schwartz was the first Dean of the Graduate School of Biological Sciences at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, holding the role from 1965 to 1980, when he became Dean Emeritus. He was also the first Chair of the Department of Structural and Chemical Biology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Director of the Mount Sinai Center for Polypeptide Research. In 1973, he was the recipient of the Medical Alumni Achievement Award from the New York University School of Medicine.

Stuart F. Schlossman

Portrait of Stuart Franklin Schlossman, MD. Dr. Schlossman received his MD from New York University School of Medicine in 1958. He later became the Chief of the Division of Tumor Immunology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA.

Robert S. Schwartz

Portrait of Robert Stewart Schwartz, MD (1928-2017). Dr. Schwartz received his MD from New York University School of Medicine in 1954. He later became Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine and served as Chief of the Division of Hematology at Tufts Medical Center for nearly three decades.

Alfred Charles Post

Dr. Post taught at University Medical College as Professor of Anatomy beginning in 1838, and then as Professor of Professor of Principles, Practices & Operations of Surgery from 1851 to 1875. He later served as Professor Emeritus of Clinical Surgery.
