Description

Jay Swanson, RN pin description: "Gold plated brass with blue enamel lettering, Seal of the School, BSN, Creighton University on the face of the pin. My initials are engraved on the back of the pin." Additional description: At the top is a shield featuring a crowned crest and a lion in relief, surrounded by two standing lions on each side. Below the shield, there is a ribbon with the words "God Send Grace." Beneath this, large letters spell out "BSN" in raised gold letters. The bottom of the emblem is another ribbon, set in a dark blue background, with the text "Creighton University" in raised gold letters. BSN stands for Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Jay Swanson, RN: "I attended the Accelerated BSN program at Creighton University in Omaha Nebraska. I thought I was going to be a physician, but many people and events intervened to direct me on the path that has ultimately (and repeatedly) proven to be the right choice. We had our graduation ceremony in the Cathedral on campus; walking past the altar to receive my pin with my cohort of other new nurses was such a joy. I have kept my pin safe and never wore it, but I've always known where it was. Now, 20+ years later, I am comforted to have the connection to my foundation and beginning as a professional nurse."  Swanson is a Nurse Leader, Advanced Practice Nurse at NYU Langone Health.
