Pin owner Barbara Delmore, APN, Senior Nurse Scientist, NYU Langone Health: "I began my professional nursing journey in 1982 on a Plastic/Reconstructive Surgery unit. In 2000, a colleague repeatedly tried to convince me to take the next step, and attend an accredited program that would help me obtain my board certification in wounds. She could see it was my passion, as it was hers, but I always had an excuse - "I am in the middle of getting my PhD, "I just finished my PhD, no more school for me!" But she she finally did it and in 2007, I attended Emory's Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Education Center (WOCNEC) and completed the program. By 2008, I became board-certified - something I thought I could never achieve. This certification has led to so many wonderful opportunities, experiences and the chance to meet and work with incredible colleagues."
