Description
Three nurses are shown with a group of children, some African American, in the Innocenti Ward of the New York Post-Graduate Medical School and Hospital. One child is shown in a crib with a sign above it reading “Ruhe Sanft 1894.” This was an “endowed” bed, likely from the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Babies Wards. This photograph was published with the caption “Luncheon Hour in the Innocenti Ward (Babies’ Wards)” on page 65 of the Annual Report of the New York Post-Graduate Medical School and Hospital, 1905.
