Image of Donald V. Moore, MD (1915-2009), from p. 39 of the 1954 NYU Medical Violet yearbook. Dr. Moore taught in the Department of Preventative Medicine at the New York University College of Medicine. He also served as parasitologist to Bellevue Hospital from 1947 to 1955.

Joseph Lister

Portrait of Joseph Lister, MD (1827-1912), printed with his signature in the “Gallery of Outstanding Physicians and Naturalists” for Munchener Medicinishcen Wochenschrift (Munich Medical Weekly). Dr. Lister was a British surgeon and a pioneer of antiseptic surgery.

Morris Herman

Dr. Herman received his MD from University and Bellevue Hospital Medical College in 1930. He taught at the New York University College of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry from 1935 to 1979, eventually holding the title of Menas S. Gregory Professor of Psychiatry (1949-1979) and Acting Chairman, Department of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Frederick Clark Holden

He taught at University and Bellevue Hospital Medical College as Professor of Gynecology (1919-1932), Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Administrative Department Chair (1932-1934), and Professor Emeritus Obstetrics and Gynecology (1934-1944).

Pinckney J. Harman

Philippe Charles Ernest Gaucher

Gaucher, Mai 1916.” Dr. Gaucher was a French dermatologist, known for his identification and description of the genetic disorder now known as Gaucher’s disease. A teacher, writer, and researcher specializing in venereal disease, he also received the Legion of Honour for his medical service during World War I.
