He taught at New York University School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Dermatology (1966-1969), Assistant Professor of Dermatology (1969-1971), and Associate Professor of Dermatology (1971-1994).

Portrait of Johan Almkvist, MD (1869-1945), inscribed to “Dr. Howard Fox from his friend Johan Almkvist, Stockholm d. 17/11/1930." Dr. Almkvist was a Swedish dermatologist known for his research on mercurial toxaemias and his method of treatment for syphilis. He served as Professor of Dermatology and Physician-in-Chief at St. Göran Hospital from 1913 to 1927, and as Professor of Dermatology and Syphilology at the Karolinska Institute from 1927 to 1934.

Dr. Bakwin taught at University and Bellevue Hospital Medical College, later New York University College of Medicine, as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (1930-1940), Associate Professor of Pediatrics (1940-1950), and Professor of Clinical Pediatrics (1950-1974). Dr. Bakwin authored the widely regarded medical text, "Clinical Management of Behavior Disorders in Children," and coined the expression “tender loving care.”

Inscribed “With very best wishes from California, for my good friend Howard Fox, Harry Everett Alderson. 1930.” Dr. Alderson served as Professor of Dermatology and Syphilology and department chair at Stanford University Medical School from 1912 until his retirement in 1944.
