Portrait of Robert F. Goldberger, MD (1933-2003). Dr. Goldberger received his MD from New York University School of Medicine in 1958. He was provost of Columbia University from 1981 to 1989. In 1989 he returned to the New York University School of Medicine, where he taught as an Adjunct Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine until 1993.

Portrait of William Alexander Hammond, MD (1828-1900). Dr. Hammond received his MD from University Medical College in 1848. He served as Surgeon General of the U.S. Army from 1862 to 1864. He taught at Bellevue Hospital Medical College as Professor of Diseases of Mind and Nervous System from 1867 to 1874, and Professor of Materia Medica and Therapeutics from 1872 to 1874. He then taught at University Medical College as Professor of Mind and Nervous System from 1874 to 1882. A pioneer in nervous and mental diseases, Dr. Hammond published A Treatise on Diseases of the Nervous System in 1871, the first textbook of its kind in the English language.

Portrait of Herman N. Eisen, MD (1918-2014). Dr. Eisen received his MD from New York University College of Medicine in 1943. He taught at New York University College of Medicine as a Fellow in Medicine (1947-1948), Assistant in Medicine (1948-1949), Assistant Professor of Industrial Medicine (1949-1953), and Associate Professor of Industrial Medicine (1953-1955). In 1968, Dr. Eisen received the Medical Alumni Scientific Award on Alumni Day. An important researcher in the field of immunology, he was influential in establishing the usefulness of equilibrium dialysis with purified antibodies and the affinity of combining sites.

Portrait of David H. Goldstein, MD (1908-1978). Dr. Goldstein taught at the New York University College of Medicine and later School of Medicine from 1936 to 1974 in the fields of Preventive Medicine, Industrial Medicine, and Environmental Medicine. He was the acting director for the Department of Environmental Medicine and the Institute of Environmental Medicine from 1966 to 1967.

Carte de visite portrait of John Frederick Erdmann, MD (1864-1954). Dr. Erdmann received his MD from Bellevue Hospital Medical College in 1887. He taught as Professor of Practical Anatomy at Bellevue Hospital Medical College and University and Bellevue Hospital Medical College from 1895 to 1899.

Carte de visite portrait of Gasper Griswold, MD. Dr. Griswold received his MD from Bellevue Hospital Medical College in 1879. He taught in the Bellevue Hospital Medical College Third Division as Assistant to the Chair of Diseases of the Nervous System (1880-1884) and Demonstrator of Anatomy (1884-1886).

Portrait of Charles Gottlieb, MD (1886-1960). Dr. Gottlieb received his MD from University and Bellevue Hospital Medical College in 1907. He was on the faculty of the New York University College of Medicine from 1933 to 1952, teaching in the Department of Radiology. From 1947 to 1949, he was Acting Chairman of the Department of Radiology, and from 1948 until his retirement in 1953, he served as Chair. He held the title of Professor Emeritus of Radiology from his retirement in 1952 to his death in 1960.

Dr. Hall taught at the College of Medicine as Instructor in Pathology (1938-1944), National Cancer Institute Fellow in Cancer Research (1938-1939), Dean W. Horace Hoskins Fellow in Comparative Pathology (1939-1941), Assistant Professor of Pathology (1944-1949), Associate Professor of Pathology (1949-1954), and Professor of Pathology (1954-1957).
