Dr. Pasteur Vallery-Radot (second from left) was the grandson of Dr. Louis Pasteur and the head of France’s Department of Public Health in the years following World War II. This photograph was taken in the Medical Science Building on December 20, 1956. Also featured are Dr. George Ellis Armstrong, President Carroll Vincent Newsom, Dr. Marion B. Photograph of Anthony S. Bogatko, MD, and William C. MacTavish, MD, receiving Alumni Meritorious Service Citations from Francis L. Valente, Alumni Federation President, at the June 4, 1958 Commencement Exercises. Dr. Bogatko received his MD from University and Bellevue Hospital Medical College in 1919. He taught at University and Bellevue Hospital Medical College as an Assistant in Surgery (1922-1927) and Instructor in Surgery (1930-1936). He then taught at the New York University College of Medicine as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery (1936-1941) and Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery (1941-1963). Dr. MacTavish received his MD from the New York University College of Medicine in 1949.

Cabinet card of Reginald Hall Sayre, MD (1859-1929). Dr. Sayre received his MD from Bellevue Hospital Medical College in 1884. The son of Dr. Lewis A. Sayre, he also became an orthopedic surgeon and taught at Bellevue Hospital Medical College from 1899 to 1929. He succeeded his father as head of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery.

William Smith Tillett

Portrait of William Smith Tillett, MD (1892-1974). Dr. Tillett taught at New York University School of Medicine from 1938 until his retirement in 1958, after which he became Professor Emeritus. He chaired the Department of Medicine from 1938 to 1958.
