Portrait of Johan Almkvist, MD (1869-1945), inscribed to “Dr. Howard Fox from his friend Johan Almkvist, Stockholm d. 17/11/1930." Dr. Almkvist was a Swedish dermatologist known for his research on mercurial toxaemias and his method of treatment for syphilis. He served as Professor of Dermatology and Physician-in-Chief at St. Göran Hospital from 1913 to 1927, and as Professor of Dermatology and Syphilology at the Karolinska Institute from 1927 to 1934.

Portrait of Harry Bakwin, MD (1894-1973). Dr. Bakwin taught at University and Bellevue Hospital Medical College, later New York University College of Medicine, as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (1930-1940), Associate Professor of Pediatrics (1940-1950), and Professor of Clinical Pediatrics (1950-1974). Dr. Bakwin authored the widely regarded medical text, "Clinical Management of Behavior Disorders in Children," and coined the expression “tender loving care.”

Inscribed “With very best wishes from California, for my good friend Howard Fox, Harry Everett Alderson. 1930.” Dr. Alderson served as Professor of Dermatology and Syphilology and department chair at Stanford University Medical School from 1912 until his retirement in 1944.

Image of Mark Hancock Adams, MD (1912-1956), from p. 42 of the 1954 NYU Medical Violet yearbook. Dr. Adams taught at the New York University College of Medicine as Assistant Professor of Microbiology (1942-1948) and Associate Professor of Microbiology (1948-1956).

Portrait of George Ellis Armstrong, MD (1900-1979). Dr. Armstrong served as Director of New York University Medical Center from 1955 to 1968.

Signed portrait of Horatio George Adamson, MD (1865-1955), inscribed, “To Dr. Howard Fox, with kindest regards. Yours sincerely, HG Adamson.” Dr. Adamson was a British dermatologist who served as president and member of many dermatological societies in both Europe and North America.
